The benefits of having a doula attend your birth…

The presence of a doula in the birthing space is a game changer. We hold space, we advocate, we educate, we wipe sweat, and cheer you on…so that you can focus on bringing that baby (or babies!!) earth side. It’s powerful💥

But, what exactly IS a doula?

Doula is a greek word meaning “caregiver”. A birth doula, is a trained labor companion who supports a birthing person/couple through pregnancy, labor and delivery, and transition to life with baby.

What are the benefits of having a birth doula?

  • 28% less likely to have a cesarean section
  • 31% less likely to use synthetic oxytocin to speed up labor
  • 9% less likely to use any pain medication
  • 34% less likely to rate their childbirth experience negatively

But, isn’t my partner/mother/sister/bestie enough?

There is no replacement for having those closest to you with you during your birth. The beauty of having me on your birth team is that I can help them help you!! As a trained and educated birth support expert, I can teach your partner how to comfort you during the most intense moments of your labor. During a longer labor, I can give your partner a break, to rest and recharge so that they are ready to be fully present with you during those beautiful moments when baby finally arrives. If things change course or don’t go exactly as planned, I can help the two of you understand what is happening, present you with your options, and give you time to process and reset as you plot your new course.

A few other things to consider…

  • As your doula, we will meet at least two times prior to your birth to get to know one another and and create YOUR birth plan.
  • I will be available to you 24/7 by phone or email for questions – you will have many!!
  • I will stay by your side through birth, and support you in the unique way that you and your partner need.
  • I will be there to facilitate conversation between you and your care provider to ensure you are making informed decisions throughout your birth that are right for you and your baby.
